The Opening Reception for the Art of Contemporary Shibari Exhibit is today, March 16, 2012

It’s Showtime, Folks“.
( I always liked Roy Scheider’s line in the movie, All That Jazz.)

Today, March 16, Mother Dog Studios will open its doors at 5PM to host the Opening Reception for the Art of Contemporary Shibari Exhibit. This major exhibit features the art of an international group of world class shibari riggers and photographers. It is a part of the activities for the Fotofest 2012 Biennial, which is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of international visitors to Houston to learn about and enjoy photographic art.

The art presented in this exhibit represents some of the best contemporary shibari art in the world.  Click on the artist names in this list to preview the art they are exhibiting.

The Artists

Some of these talented artists and their models will be here in person for these Opening Weekend festivities.  They have traveled from Portland, Oregon, Orlando, Florida, Los Angeles, California, Atlanta, Georgia, Austin and Dallas, Texas.

This art is much more impressive when seen in person rather than simply looking at the images on the web.  Some of the prints are larger than life.  They are all gorgeous.  Be sure to come by and personally view the exhibit.

There will also be live shibari art performances during the Opening Reception, Friday, March 16 from 5 to 11PM, and during the Special Event on Saturday, March 17, from 7 to 12PM.  During these events, you will be able to meet and talk to the artists and models, and watch how some of the positions displayed in the exhibit art are created.
