DoctorZ presents “Ballet Dancer”

Sometimes, a ballet theme is used by riggers and models in creating their shibari art.  This is a slideshow video I created with images from a ballet and light sculpture shoot Jamie S and I did together at Mother Dog Studios in the summer of 2011.  The images in this video are not traditional shibari images.  They are some of our interpretations of contemporary shibari art. Jim Duvall presents “2009-6434”

Visual sculpture …   This is an example of how Jim Duvall uses shibari techniques to shape bodies into poses they cannot attain.  He is a Seattle based award winning photographer and founder of the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival.  In its 10 year history, The Seattle Erotic Arts Festival has grown substantially, moving into the 36,000 square foot Seattle Center Exhibition Hall in 2008, and in 2011 into the 50,000 square foot Fremont Studios.  In 2012, they expect more than 10,000 attendees during its week long event, June 16 – 24.  It very successfully celebrates art that is rarely seen in mainstream galleries and museums. Alberto Lisi aka Hikari Kesho is a famous fashion and shibari photographer who’s work has been displayed in gallery exhibits and featured in many publications.
